The Seelaus family recently visited The Learning Circle YMCA, where the R. Seelaus & Co. contribution provides a full-year preschool scholarship.

R. Seelaus & Co. supports local working families by funding a full-year preschool scholarship at the Summit Area YMCA, helping build a brighter future for all.

SUMMIT, NJ, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As demand for childcare for working families continues to rise, the team at R. Seelaus & Co., Inc. is on a mission to ensure that early childhood education is accessible to all. To see this dream become a reality, they turned to their longtime nonprofit partner, the Summit Area YMCA, providing a generous $21,420 donation to fund a scholarship for a full-time preschool student at The Learning Circle YMCA for an entire year.

“For working families who struggle to make ends meet, childcare scholarships are transformative in helping them break the cycle of poverty,” said Jennifer Andrade, VP of Early Childhood Education at the Summit Area YMCA. “We are incredibly grateful to the Seelaus Family for directing their gift here. In 2024 alone, we provided $360,000 in childcare scholarships, empowering children with engaging educational experiences while their parents work to better their families’ lives.”

This scholarship was inspired by Joanne and Richard Seelaus, who have always recognized the value of education and the need for more equitable access to childcare for those facing financial hardship.

“Having grown up with two parents working outside the home and now raising my own children in the same paradigm, I know that every professional opportunity afforded me was directly correlated to my ability to afford quality childcare,” said Annie Seelaus. “I feel passionate about this issue and the need to solve this crisis for all working families and the working mothers it disproportionally affects. We are grateful to have a partner in the Summit Area YMCA and to support the incredible impact their programs have on local families.”

The child who is awarded this scholarship will be immersed in The Learning Circle YMCA’s classrooms, where they develop cognitively, emotionally, and socially under the expert guidance of teachers and the renowned Creative Curriculum. Because these early childhood education centers are within the Y, the scholarship recipient will also enjoy weekly trips to the gym and swim lessons. To add to that, this recipient and their family will be relieved of the burden of worrying about where their next meal will come from, as The Learning Circle YMCA provides its students with nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day.

In turn, this scholarship honors the generosity of those who make it possible and carries forward a legacy of opening doors through education. Its impact will ripple far beyond the classroom, shaping not only one child’s future but also strengthening the community as a whole.
